Panhandle Nordic Ski and
Snowshoe Club
Thanks
On behalf of the Nordic Club, I would like
to thank
the fifteen members who turned out to man our aid
station at the Coeur dAlene Marathon. It was a
spirited bunch decked out in Hawaiian Shirts.
A number of woody skis made a rare appearance together
with a water ski. An eclectic assortment of music
played for the runners. As the runners came by,
there was a lot of enthusiasm, cheering and help.
After most
of the runners were past, some no-alcohol margaritas were
enjoyed before the station was torn down and cleaned up.
A few of our stalwart members then rode the course on
mountain bikes to pick up the debris
left on the track by the runners. We have some fun
manning the station each year, but this is a good
moneymaker for the club. We make a
fee for the station and another for cleaning the course. We will report on
the proceeds when they come in.
You
can rest assured they will be applied to the improvement
of winter skiing and snowshoeing at the Fourth of July
area. Thanks again to the volunteers for donation of
their time.

Middle Fork Salmon, parts of the Main Salmon, Selway,
Lochsa, Middle Fork Clearwater, Rapid River, West Fork
Rapid River, and the Snake in Hells Canyon. Currently,

Idaho
Rivers United works to protect and restore the rivers of
Idaho. Since our founding in 1990, IRU has become a
powerful force for safeguarding Idaho's imperiled wild
steelhead and salmon, protecting and enhancing stream
flows and riparian areas, and defending and promoting the
wild and scenic qualities of our great wild rivers.
