The Hike at Liberty Lake will be the Loop Trail. It is rated moderately challenging and is good practice for anyone considering harder hikes like the iconic Scotchman Peak. The distance is 8.5 miles (4 hours) with an elevation gain of 1400 feet. There is a nice cedar grove where a turn back would provide a hike of 4.7 miles (2 hours) if anyone desires this. Beyond this point is a waterfall, some good views, and then a Boy Scout built cabin at the top. This was initially proposed for next Tuesday, but with temperatures to reach 103, I thought Saturday with a forecast of afternoon high of 92 would be better. Plan on meeting at the Southwest corner of Coeur d'Alene Lowes parking lot at 7:30 so we are finished around noon. There is a park charge of $2.00 per person. I suggest we plan on eating near Liberty Lake after the hike. Pryor's East Farms Drive-Inn may be good. Has anyone been there? An RSVP would help in planning and get you notified if this is canceled.
