Meet at the northeast corner of the parking lot on Super 1 in Hayden for a 7:00 am departure. 

For anyone who has wanted to climb Scotchman Peak, this is a great time. The weather should be perfect for hiking, and the forecast is for 68° with no rain. This is a classic hike up the main peak in the Scotchman proposed wilderness area.  It is a short but steep, 4 miles one way, with an elevation gain of 3700 feet. Goats cannot be promised, but five greeted us the last time we visited. Potential new members welcome.

This iconic hike is a challenge to strive for. I recommend hiking some 2000 foot climb trails to prepare for this adventure. The following link from All Trails gives a good description and also a nice 3d preview. We could find goats who will look fine with their new coats for the winter. We will meet at Super 1 Hayden and have a stop at the Clark Fork Pantry prior to starting the hike.
